Macintosh systems are very advanced in their architecture and integrated with various features to protect user data. FileVault is that kind of application that the encryption of data easier in your home directory / folder. During the FileVault protection is ON, turned the home folder / directory in an encrypted disk image. Then with the "Secure Erase" option, you can delete the files that is copied to the File Vault. However, if it happens every problem that interrupts the process, then the data can be lost, and only recovered by an efficient Mac Recovery Utility be.
A short FileVault:
FileVault is an innovative invention designed to protect files on a Macintosh computer. This tool is included with all Macintosh operating systems, Mac OS X 10.3.9 and later. FileVault derives a key of the user login ID, password and home directory with the AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) algorithm to encrypt. The encrypted file mounted and unmounted when the user logs in or out of the system. FileVault stores the data as one big file, which is a sparse disk image and the data can be saved by breaking the image into separate bands scarce. There is however one drawback is FileVault, for it is not the image of the entire hard drive and restart your Mac Time Machine will not back specifieke gegevens.
The real problem with FileVault result in the eradication of the data. The option, encrypted for secure deletion of data, which quenches the FileVault, all files copied to the individual in the encrypted disk image was. However, if the option "not to interrupt the Secure Erase process, and by all means stop the process chosen, it is a serious case of data loss.
It can have enormous reasons such as power outages, do not apply or hardware failure, which can lead to disruption of the Secure Erase process. So that the process will eventually lead to data loss or inaccessibility as follows:
• Failed to login to the account that is protected by FileVault.• Can all the files in your home directory including the FileVault image is deleted or missing.
Moreover, another possible loss of data that may occur, for example when a user forgets the password of the account and the master password that is generated by the FileVault.
In all these cases of data loss, you can restore the data from the backup updated. However, if backup is not available, the only option is to use a Mac using recovery software.
